Jawbone Valley, a Mojave Desert gem, was our playground. Armed with off-road champions—Polaris RZR, Can-Am Maverick, Surron Light Bee, and Honda TRX 400ex—we embarked on an epic dune-conquering adventure on the beginning of June, 2023.

2022 Polaris RZR XP 4 1000
When we embarked on our adventure at Jawbone Valley, we did so in the 2022 Polaris RZR XP 4 1000. With its potent 999cc engine roaring with 114 horsepower, we had no reservations about our ability to conquer the harshest terrains. Its True On-Demand All-Wheel Drive promised us ultimate grip, allowing us to scale the towering dunes with utmost confidence and thrill.
2021 Can-Am MAVERICK X3 MAX DS TURBO
Our quest to conquer the dunes of Jawbone Valley saw us aboard the 2021 Can-Am MAVERICK X3 MAX DS TURBO. This off-road powerhouse, equipped with a turbocharged Rotax ACE engine and 172 horsepower, ensured our journey was as exciting as it was unstoppable. The ride was as smooth as it was powerful, courtesy of its innovative 4-link TTX suspension with 20-in of travel, allowing us to conquer the dunes with precision and comfort.
2021 Surron Light Bee
As part of our daring adventure in Jawbone Valley, we took the 2021 Surron Light Bee for a spin. This electric trail bike, weighing a mere 50kg, provided us with unprecedented power-to-weight ratio. The robust high torque motor gave us incredible acceleration to zip over the sandy landscape, making our dune conquest an eco-friendly thrill ride.
Honda TRX 400ex
When riding towards the dune's peak in Jawbone Valley, the Honda TRX 400ex was our chariot of choice.(although it is small) Its air-cooled 397cc engine, sturdy frame, and long-travel suspension ensured a strong and predictable performance over the sandy terrain. Even as we navigated through the challenging dunes, the TRX 400ex was an embodiment of power, handling, and reliability, proving why it's a favorite among off-road enthusiasts.

Challenges? Sure!
Pat: "Weather, for one. Desert summers can hit 110 degrees, but we lucked out with a rainy spell that brought it down to 100. Still hot, though! Then there's the terrain – rocky trails mean careful driving, and the moving sand, whoops and bumps added to the challenge. Not to mention the elevation changes – Surron and Honda couldn't even reach the top!"
Michael added, "Getting those cam gears to the top of the dunes wasn't easy. We had to pack everything into the X3 and RZR, and be ultra-cautious over those steep trails. But, WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!"
The fun part?
Michael: "Filming handheld, we shot each trail 8 or 9 times per vehicle. We'd shoot, then reset. In the end, only 2-3 seconds of each run made the cut. But, it's those moments that make the video shine."
Pat: "And there's this sandy hill – a big challenge even for pros on dirt bikes. For a UTV? Maybe too much."

I ordered a handlebar bag and it was exactly what I was looking for fit perfectly between the bars the zipper made easy access and it looks good to pack my tools riding in the silver lake sand dunes.
