The Anchorage Recreation Sites is definitely a boon for bush lovers, this place is mainly forest, offering camping, fishing, boating, hunting, and horseback riding in some area. Some off highway vehicle use is permitted in designated areas. 

2.Bald Mountain Trail

Location: Solitude Street, Wasilla, AK 99629

Dates Open:  Year-Round

Fees:   Free

Most of the terrain of Bald Mountain Trail is forest and for it has a certain elevation, it’s more like a technical hill.

3.Belanger Pass Trail

Location: 135 Glenn Highway Palmer, AK 99645

Dates Open: Year-Round

Fees: Free

This 13 mile route is totally a good challenge for the terrain mainly consists of hard pack and loose rocks and a few deep water crossing.

4.Bird Creek Valley Trail

Location: Konikson Road, Anchorage, AK 99540

Dates Open: April 1 - November 30

Fees: Free

Located in the third largest state park in the United States, this area has around six miles of ATV trails that consists of moderately difficult terrain and runs along a creek up to Bird Pass.

5.Caribou Hills

Location: Ninilchik, AK

Dates Open: Year-Round

Fees: Free

Recommend Trails: From: Homer, AK

**Note: Oil Well Road is a long and rough with a few narrow and steep sections. Large trailers are not recommended.

The trails are open year-round and during the summer months the terrain can get muddy with deep water puddles. All vehicle are permitted to ride but a four-wheel one is the most recommend.

6.Coal Mine Road

Location: Delta Junction, AK

Dates Open: Friday - Sunday and holiday weekends

Fees: Free

The Coal Mine Road is a recommend trail that can offer excellent mountain views. It will be more favourable for muddy season and rainy days. 

7.Colorado Creek Trail

Location: Fairbanks, AK

Dates Open: May-October (wet, muddy)

Fees: Free

The terrain of Colorado Creek Trail will more welcome in winter though its only open from summer. What’s more, the noise and a total gross vehicle weight rating are limited.
