A vast, sparsely populated Midwestern state with rolling grasslands. South Dakota has some of the best ATV trails in America. Places include mud and rock crawl. There is something for all skill levels.

1.Baja ORV Area

Location:  Scenic, SD 57780

Dates Open: Year-Round

Fees:  Free

The area is open year-round and it’s about 480 acres. Most of the land are hard pack but plain is the main terrain so it’s still friendly to beginners.

2.Black Hills National Forest

Location: South Dakota and Wyoming, U.S

Dates Open: May 15 - December 15

Fees: $25/rider

The Black Hills National Forest Motorized Trail Permit is a must, this forest is huge with over 1200000 acres but vehicles are only allow to ride on designated trails and the same as camping.

3.Railroad Buttes

Location:  Farmingdale-Folsom Road, Caputa, SD 57725

Dates Open: Year-Round

Fees: $25/rider;kids 8 and under - $15

This place is huge with 1745 acres and a 50 miles of trail. But the terrain here are mainly plains, so it can be controllable to beginners. Here also has hard pack and small jumps for challenging.

4.Red Lake

Location: Tinton Road, Lead, SD 57754

Dates Open: May 15 - December 15

Fees:  Free

The property is a national forest and has a big elevation changes so it will be more fun for amateur. The Black Hills National Forest Motorized Trail Permit is a must.

5.Revheim Bay OHV Area

Location: Revheim Road, Mobridge, SD 57601

Dates Open: Year-Round

Fees: $25/rider;kids 8 and under - $15

Motorcycles, ATVs and UTVs are permitted on here but has a limit not larger than 50 inches. Youth are required to wear MX helmet on the track. Camping and campfire are prohibited.
